Project summary

A built diagnostic laboratory, clinic and attached pharmacy developed from site measurement through space planning, interior design development, regulatory revision and implementation. The compact irregular unit required clinical, patient-facing, retail and support functions to operate clearly within healthcare constraints.

Planning & spatial strategy

The layout was developed from on-site measurement and existing conditions, organizing public, clinical, retail and support functions within an irregular mall unit while maintaining clear circulation, privacy and efficient staff workflow.

• Public–clinical separation. Patient-facing zones were kept distinct from controlled laboratory and support areas.
• Efficient adjacencies. Extraction, laboratory, sterilization, storage and support functions were positioned to reduce unnecessary staff movement.
• Clear patient sequence. Reception and waiting establish an immediate point of orientation before access to consultation and diagnostic functions.
• Compact multi-function planning. Healthcare, diagnostic and pharmacy functions were integrated within an irregular mall shell without losing operational clarity.

Design revision & regulatory coordination

The initial scheme was developed and visualized before regulatory review. Following Department of Health feedback, spatial requirements were revised through discussions with the project architect and stakeholders. I participated in reviewing the layout and coordinating interior-design decisions while the architect incorporated the required changes into the final technical documentation.

Regulatory response. Healthcare requirements affected room adjacencies, support-service locations, circulation and equipment-related spatial provisions. The revised layout was coordinated with the project architect while preserving the interior design intent where possible.
